I've been a Kenyon fan since the early days of the Dark Hunters. I love her characters, the worlds they live in. their personalities, their backstories and the way they develop, but like the DH series the books are getting a bit redundant. They all center around a HUGELY badass hero, broken on the inside, who can only be reformed or saved by the too-beautiful-for-words heroine with a heart of gold. They have to overcome some serious emotional and physical/social obstacles before they can be together, but they always live happily ever after. Born of Fury was a little overwritten, way too much detail about inconsequential things (building layouts, clothing, battle tactics, etc.), and repetitive in places, but I still want to read the whole series to find out what happens to each of the characters.
This is the one that I was waiting for! I have to say that from the beginning of this series, all the way back in the beginning with our first badass, drool-worthy assassin, I was completely drawn to Hawk. I don't know if I am just a sucker for a huge man, or if it was this extremely shielded tender side that I think I saw maybe twice in the entire series! Well ladies and gentlemen, I was floored by this book and have had to rearrange my top five favorite books because this one just took the number two position!!

Ok so this story starts out a little differently than the rest as we are introduced directly to Andarian customs as Hawk has to fulfill his brothers role as guide on his nephews right of passage. I really liked that we were finally behind the curtain of the Andarians as they have always been extremely interesting to me while we only found out bits and pieces of their culture here and there.

Hawk is a magnificent lead character and I tell you, you will have to definitely hold on to your seat because this one will be dragging you all over. It was an emotional ride as Hawk learns to trust others and to believe in himself. This was definitely the story of finding ones place and those that really matter. Having only the Sentella has narrowed his world and people that he can rely on, but he soon finds that he has so much more than he realized.

With the help of one female (and bratty nephew), Hawk's world is turned upside down and inside out. He will have to re-prioritize and find a new way of looking at those around him!

I have to say PUHLEASE give this one a try because I guarantee that you will not be disappointed in the least. If this is a series that you love, you will want to get your hands on this one as soon as possible people!! I am about to start it again for the second time and can't wait!

We finally get Hauk’s full story and it is just as amazing as the rest of this series. Poor Hauk has the worst parents, and woman he is supposed to marry if she will have him. Turns out, she’s a major bitch and the only reason Hauk is supposed to marry her is because she was married to his brother. There is a lot of back-story here that has direct impact on the explosive ending, so I won’t go into details. Hauk has been treated horribly by his family and most of the Andarion people. We learn a lot about the Andarions & Phrixians cultures and rules and that knowledge really flushes out the world building from previous books in the series. But as with all League books, he has his adopted Sentella family which seems to grow with each book. There are some hilarious scenes here related to raising children which most of the Sentella members have now, some in abundance. Sumi is a typical take-no-prisoners League heroine. She has also had a rough life, the primary problem being that her daughter was taken from her at birth to be raised by the League and never know her mom. That fact haunts her and is a major plot line of the story. We are introduced to several new characters also, my favorite being Hauk’s grandmother. I don’t want to get into any spoilers, so I’ll just say, read this book. It is amazing! The audible version by Fred Berman is telemetry well done. I love WhisperSync!
