This book has completely changed my opinion about independently published authors. A week ago I received an email from the author stating that I might be interested in this book. I do not know the author and I assume that she had gotten my name from my Amazon Profile. She was running a three day special on the Kindle version for free. I was very skeptical at first, simply because I have downloaded several books by indie authors in the past and could not even finish them. But the introduction to the book sounded very interesting so I figured since it was free, I had nothing to lose. Worse case I wouldn’t be able to finish the book.

From the first page to the end, I loved this book! It is one of the best books that I’ve read in several years. I made the mistake of starting this book late at night. I really thought it would be one of those books that would put me to sleep. I was so wrong!

The plot is very well developed and her description of the characters brings the story to life. It’s exciting, original and fast paced. The author definitely has a very good imagination and the ability to articulate. Her writing style reminds me of my all-time favorite author, Anne McCaffrey.

It’s a true Science Fiction without too much technical details. It has some romance but no sexual content that would make me not recommend for teen-agers. It does have a few typos (grammatical errors) but not enough to distract you from the book. It is the first volume of a series and does not end in a cliff hanger. However, you will want to read the next one. I’ve already downloaded the second one, Europa: Quanundocii. I think this book will mainly appeal to women, young adults and old ladies like me.

The author has created an interesting world and presents a science fiction piece that is original. While the book could have benefited from some editing, the characters are intriguing
The story line was interesting but the spelling was atrocious!! If this author had a proofreader she should replace him or her and if she didn't have a proofreader she certainly should hire one ASAP!!. Of all the novels I have read over my lifetime this is the only one that had so many misspelled words!! Truly this detracted from the story line!!!
This was a real unique surprise. The story unfolds from beginning to end. Amazing description to a fictional world.

The author goes to great lengths in describing the world of Europa and the race of its inhabitants.

The characters were believable, some bigger than life.
Good si-fy story about a young girl coming of age and dealing with the responsibility of assuming the responsibilities of being the monarch of a royle family. Only the royal family is from another planet and she has no idea she is from an alien race. This book is full of adventure and action. It involves a villain who's main goal is to destroy all the royal family and the alien race they are part of. A story of love and sadness for those lost to a vengeful psychopath.
I was asked to review this book and I went into it with very high hopes. I love the concept as it is very different from most YA that I read. However, the writing was a little off for me. I had a hard time really feeling a connection to the characters and the dialog read like a poorly scripted play. I also found it to be quite predictable throughout so even with the idea of suspense building it fell flat. I am very interested in seeing where this author goes in the future. This was not a horrible read by any means, the plot is very good. It just wasn't for me.
In the interest of full disclosure, the author is a friend and I copy-edited the seven volumes of the series.
I took on this task because I am a life-long sci-fi fan (I began reading Tom Swift, if that dates me) and, as I told Pam, I love the work and I hate it. I love the characters, the dialogue, the scenarios,the suspense, and everything about the writing; I took on the copy-editing because the first editions needed some consistency provided by an outside editor.
I have completed the first seven volumes (Yes, the saga is multigenerational) and thoroughly enjoyed each one. I've found that I come to know the characters and anticipate their actions, only to be surprised by one of Pam's interesting plot twists.
I am anxiously awaiting Volume 8,now in progress.
Europa Awakenings by P.R.Garcia introduces us to a young girl, Europa, about to turn 20. She is said to be royalty, descended from a line of royals, now exiled. She lives with her mother, a widowed queen, on an well guarded estate. She has three close girlfriends, a handsome boyfriend, a her pet dog, which makes her a normal young woman. However, all is not as it seems and life is about to change drastically. Enter aliens, shape shifters, war, adventure, family secrets and romance, and you have a delightfully different YA scifi novel. The plot is well developed and well paced and the characters are endearing, and of course some are despicable, but all in all a lovely read! Looking forward to starting the next one!
